Brompton Farmhouse B&B, set in the heart of rural Shropshire, is the latest in a line of hotels and guest houses which have signed up to Green Achiever. Proprietor Philippa Home, also plans to open the Brompton Cookery School in September. The cookery school is the first of its kind in the UK supported by the National Trust. Both businesses are located adjacent to each other on the Trust’s land. She said: "Joining the scheme will enable us to spread the message about how we are working towards reducing our carbon footprint. For example, we source all our fresh food from producers within the local area, are establishing alternative energy suppliers, and actively engaging with other businesses to understand how they consider environmental issues as well as encouraging wildlife eco systems and habitat in and around the grounds of the B&B.
