Green Achiever launched The Shropshire Campaign on 15th April 2009 to encourage at least a further 200 Green minded businesses from Shropshire to register with us. Green Achiever has joined forces with organisations and businesses in Shropshire to place our county on the map as the Centre of Environmental Excellence and raise Shropshire’s profile as the place for the environmentally conscious to shop and do business.  We want to raise the profile of Shropshire through media exposure and aim to increase business by attracting tourists, customers and clients who prefer to use “Green” companies.

Our aim is to get as many businesses and organisations as possible to sign up to the national Green Achiever Scheme. This scheme was set up by a Shrewsbury based company in November 2007 and now has over 900 companies signed up (96 of which are in Shropshire). The scheme helps companies identify what their environmental impacts are and what they need to do to reduce them. And that's not all, Green Achiever provides a vehicle for communicating their environmental credentials through the directory and through other marketing activities.

The scheme was cited in the Orange Magazine (Issue 12, Summer 2008) as one of the top 5 websites for businesses.

The scheme was also a semi-finalist in the Barclays Bank, Leaders in Green Business Award.

How Does It Work?

There are two routes open to participants: perform a self assessment to provide the platform for further improvements and progression to Silver and Gold levels; or go from Registered to Silver with a detailed on-site audit and bespoke action plan for the next 12 months.
